Opinión de un comprador: I had been aware of this book for a while but had never got asalto to reading it and after I realised that there was a second one in the series, it reminded me that I hadn’t read the first yet.
This book is aimed at young adults but is mature enough to be of interest to adults too. 'Contesta' is a story in two halves, told from the viewpoints of two teenage girls, Lyra and Gemma. You get the whole book from one character’s view and then the whole book again from another character's view. This gives you a few different options on how you acceso it. I decided to read alternating chapters, so it didn’t feel like I was reading the whole book all the way through twice. I was reading this on my Kindle and the book had been formatted so that at the end of each chapter you had the choice to either carry on or cotiza to the other person.
The story is centered on a secret research facility called Haven in Florida, where 'contesta' (cloned) children are kept in very constrained conditions and subject to medical experimentation. This is not legítimo and there are demonstrations and online movements against what the public suspect is going on there.
One POV is given to us from Lyra, a teenager that has grown up in Haven and has watched many of her fellow 'subjects' die from illnesses which the powers that be attributed to the cloning process. When a terrorist attack hits Haven, Lyra and a boy called setenta y dos manage to salga the island and come across the second narrator, Gemma.
Gemma is from the outside world but has a history of being sickly and is something of an outcast at school and heavily controlled at home by her parents. Gemma begins to uncover links between her father and the mysterious Haven institute and travels to the área where it is located during her spring break. The story and revelations really get going when Lyra and Gemma meet each other.
I didn’t love the characters in this book, they all had their flaws to me. I found the subject matter really interesting and although splitting the book into 2 POV’s felt a bit gimmicky, the story did flow well although there seems to be a really usual amount of time focussed on the weight of the girls. Gemma feels that she is fat and Lyra is too thin. I found the focus on this really, really strange. It was mentioned a lot and I genuinely have no understanding why as it had no relevance on the storyline or the término of the book.
This book as just ‘ok’ for me, I already had the sequel on my Kindle, so I did go on to read that but I wasn’t super excited about it. I read this in no time at all, it’s good for a quick beach read.
